English literature and culture; literature and music

研究内容・研究課題

I research the relationship between music and literature of the twentieth century, focusing particularly on music’s intersection with politics. My book, E. M. Forster and Music (Cambridge, 2021), highlights music’s crucial role in Forster’s writing and the political resonances of his musical engagements. I have also co-edited, with Emma Sutton, Twenty-First-Century Readings of E. M. Forster’s Maurice (Liverpool, 2020).

研究室紹介

I have supervised students working on early twentieth-century queer writings, gender, and modernist short stories. I welcome projects on modern and contemporary Anglophone literature, life-writing, the relationship between music and literature, and translation and postcolonialism. Supervision would be in English.

メッセージ
